BlueCheck, is an industry leader in age verification, and uses multiple trusted and secure data sources to verify the information provided with each order. This process has been developed with privacy and security in mind. Sensitive information is neither shared nor accessible. WHY IS AGE VERIFICATION REQUIRED?
Identity and age verification is required to meet the requirements in the FDA guidelines, Tobacco Control Act, and other state specific legislation that regulates the online sale of tobacco, vapor and other age restricted products.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
Age verifications are generally completed automatically without any additional input from the user. If we are unable to find a data match automatically, we may ask the user for more information or even perform a manual document review to complete the verification.
Automated Verification: BlueCheck runs users submitted form data against a suite of proprietary and commercial databases. This is the quickest form of verification and will successfully verify over 85% of users.
Manual Verification: If no record is found in any database, user can upload a picture of a legally accepted photo ID and a separate picture of themselves holding the
ID to confirm the consumer’s age and identity.
WHY DO WE ASK FOR LAST FOUR DIGITS OF SSN?
Including the last 4 four digits of the SSN enables a more accurate and secure form of identity verification. In addition to increasing the likelihood of an automated match, it greatly reduces the potential for identity fraud, which benefits both the consumer and merchant. The last four digits of SSN are not stored in the BlueCheck database.
Manual verifications are typically performed when:
• the merchant has specifically requested a manual verification
• their identity and age could not be confirmed through an automated verification
Returning Verifications: BlueCheck users only need to be verified once. BlueCheck matches the returning user to their past verification record, meaning that each user never has to pass through the verification process a second time.
WHY DO WE ASK FOR A PICTURE OF DRIVER'S LICENSE?
There are three reasons why a consumer is asked to upload a picture of a legally accepted photo ID and a separate picture of themselves holding the ID to confirm the consumer’s age and identity. This type of verification may be required when:
1) The information provided by the consumer cannot be confirmed through an automated verification. Providing a photo ID allows for an alternative method to complete the verification and order purchase.
2) The consumer does not want to provide the last four digits of their SSN to attempt an automated verification.
3) The merchant requires a manual verification in the specific instance.
What BlueCheck Needs to See in the Picture of the Driver's License?
Full license to show it's not clipped, picture, full name, date of birth, and the license number. Everything else can be cross out.
